Motivation Monday: Amy Pemberton

"It was around 5 years ago that I joined a commercial gym for the first time."

"I was doing numerous group fitness classes and loving it.

This is where I met Dave. Over time he started to challenge me in different ways, the biggest one back when I first met him was talking me onto doing the first Melbourne Tough Mudder.

I thought that is crazy, I could never do something like that…well I was so wrong. I completed a 12 week intensive boot camp to prepare the best way I could. I was excited but also scared if I was going to be good enough.  I am a wife and mum of two boys which is the best job in the world, but I found that joining the gym and all that followed was something I was doing for me.

To be part of a group of like-minded people and trainers gave me a purpose in a different way. Crossing that Tough Mudder finish line was a feeling that I will never forget. This then led to doing another Tough Mudder and later a Spartan race, when I joined Trish and Dave at the AB Factory. And then earlier this year, I completed the Ultra-Trail 50k race in the Blue Mountains in May 2016 in 8 hours 51 minutes.

I have embraced weights training over the years, completing numerous rounds of strength training.  I have found that I must have a goal, event or something to work towards to be able to focus on getting the best out of myself.

There have been a number of times where I was just going through the motions, but as soon as I am challenged and pushed, my mindset changes instantly.

Over this time I have learned a lot about the type of training and nutrition required to sustain a body I am proud of and achieve my goals. I have both Dave and Trish to thank for that.

Last year I even participated in a professional photo-shoot, that scared me more than any event or race I have ever done. I had around 14 weeks to get myself in the best shape I had ever been. I was blown away with what I achieved, and hey everyone likes a compliment thrown their way, and there were lots of them from family and friends.

Dave continues to throw crazy ideas my way, some I take on board and some I don’t . Anyone who is willing to test themselves, it is a two way street. You need to be prepared to put in the hard work. And if you do, I assure you that you will be supported every step of the way at the Ab Factory.

Both Trish and Dave work hard every day to be the best they can be, not only for themselves but as exceptional role models."
