Kim Vu: "It's my turn to feel confident and healthy."

Recently, a group of qualified Metabolic Precision Specialists completed the Ab Factory Ultimate Role Model Challenge. Not only did they put themselves in their clients' shoes and make themselves fully accountable to us, but their “big reveal” performances were also live-streamed in front of 10,000 members in the MP page. This is their story.

Transformation Specialist: Kim Vu

Business Name: Fit & Firm

As you know, I completed the Role Model Challenge this year and this is my transformation. :)

As a trainer, my goal was/is to be an inspiration to mums who have neglected themselves, who have let self-care slide and who have lost all self-confidence.

I’ve been where they have been, where the chaotic life of being a mother can let all those things slide and become less of a priority because we are too busy putting all our love and attention into our kids and families only to burn ourselves out and not be happy inside with who we are.

As a mum, you get to a point in life where you start to see that the neglect of your own wellbeing has left you overweight, frequently tired and concerned about the example you are setting for your children.

I want other mums to know that it is NOT selfish to take care of yourself AND make your happiness and health a priority!

It is an absolute necessity.

As mothers, we do everything for everyone else ALL DAY LONG. It is now our turn to feel beautiful, confident and healthy in your own body again.

Kim was determined to inspire mums with her journey

What made you decide to enter The Ultimate Role Model Challenge?

I entered the Role Model Challenge because I wanted to show all the mums out there that if I can get into shape with two young kids, a family in tow, and running a business, then they can do it too. I am not the most disciplined person, I am just like any other mum out there, doing the best that I can to be fit and healthy for my family and for myself.

Just because I am a trainer, doesn't mean I'm perfect.

I've picked at my kids’ plates, made some not-so-great choices with my foods and over-indulged, forget to eat etc etc just like every other mum out there.

The difference this time was that I had a scary goal.

I focused a lot more on what I could do on a daily basis to improve rather than have the “all or nothing” mentality. I became more disciplined and consistent with my food choices and really focused on that end goal.

I now believe that this is where the magic lies for a successful transformation!

Kim spent hours in her garage rehearsing her performance

What was the message you wanted to get across with your big reveal? Who did you want to inspire?

I've been where all these mums have been, where the chaotic life of being a mother can let all things like self-care slide and become less of a priority because us mums are too busy putting all our love and attention into our kids and families only to burn ourselves out and not be happy inside with who we are.

I want other mums to know that it is NOT selfish to take care of yourself AND make your happiness and health a priority!

If you could give the previous "you" from six months ago one piece of advice, what would it be?

My advice to myself: Accept what needs to be done and do it, so that you can get to where you want to be, faster.

What were the main things you learnt/overcame during this challenge?

The main thing that I really understood during this challenge was that you cannot overeat if you are eating the right types of foods.

Towards the end of the challenge, I was astounded by the volume that I was eating.

To me, it was just ridiculous the amount of food every day but I fitted it in and was always happy and satisfied!

Sometimes I felt like I was overeating but I was getting leaner and leaner as the weeks progressed. I think, this was what has amazed me the most.

Never underestimate the power of having a goal that scares you a little bit and excites you a lot

If you could do the challenge again, what would you do differently?

If I could do this challenge again, I would've liked to be more compliant, consistent and disciplined right from the start! The last 12 weeks of the challenge was when I felt I gave it my all.

If only I had that mentality from the start... I wonder how much better my results could've been… buuut you live and you learn! There is always a next time. ;)

Tell us something about you that no one knows?

I think the biggest obstacle for me during this challenge was when my husband had to travel for work and I was left to be the sole parent to our two kids! Not having his physical support during that time was very difficult mentally.

I had to learn to be more prepared, more organised, stay in control and not stress! And guess what? I TOTALLY SURVIVED IT!

Kim :)
