Transformation Specialist: Simon Tetley
Business Name: Sim's Gym Transformation Academy
I entered the Role Model Challenge to inspire my clients and show them that hard work pays off.
I wanted to become a better trainer by putting myself back in my clients' shoes and having the opportunity to use this challenge to set a scary goal to achieve, which was what I needed.
In particular I wanted to encourage all the 30+-year-olds that say “I use to be…". I wanted to inspire those that have let themselves go and need some motivation on how to turn it around “the right way.”
I wanted to show them how possible change is. If I can do it, so can you!
(Better at 40 than he was at 30 - Simon's 3.5 year progress)
If I had my time again I would have shared more of my struggles with my community and shown them that changing bad habits and replacing them with better ones takes time and patience. It's not all the good stuff we do that people learn from.
It’s the mistakes we make that help others realize they aren’t the only ones. It doesn’t matter who you are; we all struggle with the same thing, CHANGE, and we can all learn from one another in the process.
(Simon invested a lot of time and practise into perfecting his big reveal performance)
Just before the challenge, I made the tough decision to sell my car to save money and ride a bike daily. This was especially hard when it came to food shopping as I needed to learn to plan when and how I was going to shop carefully. I had to learn to deal with a new way of life very quickly.
While challenging, it was also one of the many obstacles that lead me to the health and body I have now.

It doesn’t matter where you start, or where you’ve been. When it comes down to it, being honest with yourself and dealing with the things that are holding you back is hard for anybody.
Just because I’m a trainer doesn’t mean I haven’t struggled with my transformation. The message I want to give out is that if you want a permanent change, then don’t do it alone.
Make sure you align yourself with someone who has been there before and make sure you get the support and guidance you genuinely need. That way, you will have the best chance at success.
